Well the YouTube channel “What’s Inside” managed to get hold of a non living Rattle snake’s rattle to CUT OPEN to see what is inside!

what we learn:

  • A Rattlesnake’s rattle is not made up of tiny pebbles or other rattling things inside the snake’s tail.
  •  What happens is, each time a baby rattle snake sheds its skin, a new shell, slightly bigger, appears below, loosely attached to the one before it. When a rattlesnake shakes its tail, the rattles hit against one another, making the classic rattlesnake noise that scares away predators.
