DO YOU STILL THINK THE INTERNET IS AN INVISIBLE CLOUD?
Ever thought the Internet was just this big invisible cloud where all websites containing (music, Images, video ,text) are stored?. Well in actual fact, the Internet is not an invisible cloud but rather the Internet according to businessdictionary.com is:
A means of connecting a computer to any other computer anywhere in the world via dedicated routers and servers. When two computers are connected over the Internet, they can send and receive all kinds of information such as text, graphics, voice, video, and computer programs.
No one owns Internet, although several organizations in the world collaborate in its functioning and development. The high-speed fiber-optic cables (called backbones) through which the bulk of the Internet data travels, are owned by telephone companies in their respective countries.
Look at this picture:
The internet is a simple network of computers linked globally via a connection medium such as a wire or cable. Websites are stored in computers called servers and accessed by Computers called clients, that simple!.
Now you know the Internet is in fact not a big invisible cloud but rather a network of computers linked globally. At work you may be part of a local area network (LAN), but you most likely still connect to the Internet using an Internet service provider (ISP) that your company has contracted with. When you connect to your ISP, you become part of their network. The ISP may then connect to a larger network and become part of their network. The Internet is simply a network of networks.
