Chrissy Teigen Admits That She “Can’t Have Just One Drink” And That There’s A History Of Alcohol Abuse In Her Family
Chrissy Teigen admits she has a problem and would like to fix it.
During an interview with Cosmopolitan, Teigen opened up about her drinking habits, and how booze messed with her ability to behave better.
During a wellness retreat in Bali, that’s when the social media super star had a serious moment of clarity about how much alcohol she was consuming.
We had the most beautiful, wonderful time in Bali. Como Shambhala, my body and mind have never felt so clear. Thank you for getting me to move again (first time since I was 8 months pregnant and Luna is ummmm 15 months old) and giving me some much-needed body and nutrition schooling! And thank you for dressing us in your beautiful, traditional ceremonial costumes! And don't worry, everyone. I still love me some .99 two tacos. Balance! #notbeingpaidtosaythis
“I was, point blank, just drinking too much,” she confessed. “I got used to being in hair and makeup and having a glass of wine. Then that glass of wine would carry over into me having one before the awards show. And then a bunch at the awards show. And then I felt bad for making kind of an ass of myself to people that I really respected. And that feeling, there’s just nothing like that. You feel horrible. It’s not a good look for me, for John, for anybody.”
As if being a celebrity is not hard enough, it seems being a sober one is even tougher as she revealed the difficulty of resisting all the alcohol that comes with having an A-list lifestyle.
She told the mag, “Imagine everything we have…Everything is there, always. I don’t know how to go to an awards show and not drink.”
The mom of baby girl, Luna Legend, also admitted that there’s a history of alcohol abuse in her family, and she emphasized that she is the type of person who “can’t just have one drink.”
Earlier in the year, Mrs.Legend opened up about taking medication for postpartum depression and anxiety, and admits that “alcohol is like the least thing that helps.”
As for why the issue was not brought to her attention sooner by people close to her, she says, “Nobody really brought it up to me…They just assumed that it was okay because I always felt okay the next morning. I knew in my heart it wasn’t right. It makes you very short with people.”
As for quitting cold turkey? Teigen hopes to have her issue fixed before it gets to that point.
“I used to think it was kind of nutty to have to go totally sober, but now I get it,” she said. “I don’t want to be that person…I have to fix myself.”
